Installation Notes V-ray for 3Ds Max

V-Ray Next v4.x0.0x for 3ds Max 2013~2020:

1. Delete the unlocked files vray_v4100x_fix.dlr and vray_v4100x_max_fix.dll you ever used, or any other unlocked files like vray201x.dlr, vray_zzz201x.dll, LastVRay.dlr, BlackStorm.dlr, etc.
2. Download and install V-Ray for 3ds Max (there is no need to install the License Server)
3. Copy the unlocked file ‘vray_v4x00x_fix.dlr‘ to the following path:
   • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20xx\plugins\ (or C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20xx\plugins\vrayplugins\)
4. Copy the unlocked file ‘vray_v4x00x_max_fix.dll‘ to the following path:
   • C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\3ds Max 20xx (for x64)\bin\plugins\
5. Done

for V-Ray v3.60.03 for 3ds Max 20xx:

1. Uninstall all previous versions of V-Ray
2. Make sure you have removed the following folders:
   • 3ds Max: \Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20xx
   • Vray RT: \Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\RT for 3ds Max 20xx for x64\bin
3. Download and install ‘vray_adv_36003_max20xx_x64.exe‘ to its default installation folder
4. Copy the unlocked file ‘vray20xx.dlr‘ to “\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20xx\plugins\” and overwrite
5. Copy the unlocked file ‘vray_zzz20xx.dlr‘ to “\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\RT for 3ds Max 20xx for x64\bin\plugins\” and overwrite
6. All done, enjoy

for V-Ray v3.50.04 for 3ds Max 2015/2016/2017:

1. Remove all previous unlocked files, including the ‘BlackStorm.dlr’
2. Download and install ‘vray_adv_35004_max201x_x64.exe’
3. Copy the unlocked file ‘LastVRay.dlr’ to “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 201x\stdplugs” and overwrite
4. Copy unlocked files ‘vray.exe’ and ‘LastVRay.dll’ to “C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\RT for 3ds Max 201x for x64\bin” and overwrite
5. Done, enjoy!
